Special theme topics include any research dealing with psychological and\/or educational aspects of diagrams, such as:<br \/>\n\u2013 cognitive aspects of diagrams and diagrammatic thinking,<br \/>\n\u2013 comprehension of diagrams,<br \/>\n\u2013 construction and use of diagrams,<br \/>\n\u2013 diagrams and wayfinding,<br \/>\n\u2013 diagrams as learning and pedagogical tools,<br \/>\n\u2013 diagrams in the mind,<br \/>\n\u2013 diagrams in communication,<br \/>\n\u2013 human perception and the design of diagrams,<br \/>\n\u2013 individual differences in diagram use,<br \/>\n\u2013 mental imagery and mental animation,<br \/>\n\u2013 problem solving with diagrams,<br \/>\n\u2013 reasoning with diagrams from a psychological or educational perspective,<br \/>\n\u2013 sociocultural interpretations of diagrams,<br \/>\n\u2013 spatial structure of diagrams,<br \/>\n\u2013 students\u2019 use or misuse of diagrams.<br \/>\nIf the <strong>main research contribution<\/strong> of your submission is considered to be on the <strong>psychology of diagrams<\/strong> <strong>or their uses in educational contexts<\/strong> then you are strongly encouraged to <strong>submit to this track<\/strong> with its dedicated Program Committee.<\/p>\n<p>[<em>The details below are the same as for all tracks, except for the dedicated Program Committee<\/em>.]<\/p>\n<p>A least one authors of each accepted submission will be expected to be in attendance at the conference to present their research and respond to questions presented by delegates.<br \/>\n****************************************************************************<br \/>\nSubmission Categories<br \/>\nThe conference will include presentations of refereed Papers, Abstracts, and Posters, alongside a graduate symposium.<br \/>\nWe invite submissions for peer review that focus on any aspect of diagrams research, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Long Papers (16 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Abstracts (3 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Short Papers (8 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Posters (4 pages \u2013 this is both a maximum and minimum requirement)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All submissions should include diagrams where appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>Long Papers and Short Papers should report on original research contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions to the Abstracts category should report on significant research contributions, which may have been published elsewhere (such submissions must clearly cite prior work) or are intended to be published elsewhere. The contribution should be of a similar level to that expected of a Long Paper.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions to the Abstracts category will not be included as an archival contribution in the proceedings. Accepted Abstract submissions will be offered the same presentation time in the program as Long papers. High quality Abstract submissions that nonetheless fall short of the standard required for full acceptance may be accepted for a short presentation. The Abstracts submission category is not intended for work-in-progress; the Poster submission category should be used for work-in-progress.<\/p>\n<p>Posters may report on original, yet early stage, research or on previously published research that is of interest to the Diagrams community (such submissions must clearly cite prior work).<\/p>\n<p>****************************************************************************<br \/>\nProceedings<\/p>\n<p>The proceedings will be published by Springer as a Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) proceedings volume.\u00a0Authors must consult and follow Springer\u2019s formatting requirements (see below).<\/p>\n<p>There is no charge for publication via the standard route. However, some authors may be interested in Open Access or Open Choice publication routes and they should refer to Springer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/gp\/computer-science\/lncs\/open-access-publishing-in-computer-proceedings\">webpage<\/a> for details. Authors need to inform the Diagrams 2022 organizers as soon as possible, and <strong>no later than one week after final notification<\/strong>, if they wish to pay to publish openly. This publication route is available only at cost to the authors\u2019 and they must supply the invoice address and the CC-BY Consent-to-Publish form (instead of the standard Consent-To-Publish form) with their files for the publication.<\/p>\n<p>Abstracts will not be included in the published proceedings but will be made available on the conference web site.<\/p>\n<p>Previous editions of Diagrams were also published by <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/conference\/diagrams\">Springer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>****************************************************************************<br \/>\nFormatting Guidelines and Requirements<\/p>\n<p>Authors should consult Springer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/gp\/computer-science\/lncs\/conference-proceedings-guidelines\">authors\u2019 guidelines<\/a> and use their proceedings templates, either for <a href=\"https:\/\/resource-cms.springernature.com\/springer-cms\/rest\/v1\/content\/19238648\/data\/v4\">LaTeX<\/a> or for <a href=\"https:\/\/resource-cms.springernature.com\/springer-cms\/rest\/v1\/content\/19238706\/data\/v1\">Word<\/a>, for the preparation of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springernature.com\/gp\/researchers\/orcid\">ORCIDs<\/a> in their papers. In addition, the corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper.
