On Arrival
If you arrive during the conference or shortly before it starts, follow the signs to "Diagrams 2012" where you will find a registration desk. This will be staffed at some breaks during the conference, and in the mornings before the conference gets underway. You will get your registration pack and accommodation information from there.
If you arrive outside of conference hours, you can access your accommodation through Keynes reception. You can then get your conference pack from the registration desk when it opens. Keynes reception will be open: Mon to Fri 7.30am-8pm, Sat to Sun 8am-10pm. If you expect to arrive outside these times please email the conference organizers, or telephone Keynes reception. If you arrive outside of these hours without warning you will need to contact Campus Watch when you arrive on campus. An internal phone with directions is outside the Keynes reception area.
Public Transport to Canterbury
There is no dedicated bus or train from international airports to Canterbury. Instead, journeys typically involve travelling into London, taking the Underground to a train station, then travelling by rail to either of the Canterbury stations. There are a number of different routes. A web site such as National Rail will provide detailed information about possible trips from your arrival airport to Canterbury and will let you to buy tickets. For instance, Heathrow to Canterbury on the 1st of July.
From Canterbury Stations to Keynes College
Once in Canterbury you will arrive at either Canterbury East Station or Canterbury West Station. Note that, confusingly, Canterbury West is actually geographically slightly to the east of Canterbury East. Sorry about that. The best option to travel to Keynes College may well be a taxi, which are usually waiting outside both stations. If there are none, wait and one should shortly appear. Ask the driver for Keynes College, University of Kent. To take a bus, there is short walk from either station to a bus stop. The stop you need to get off is "Keynes College". The buses up to the University are: 4/4X/6/6A/6X. Route map here. Timetables here. It is also possible to walk up the hill from Canterbury West to Keynes College, a hike of around a mile and a half. You can follow the road directions that online mapping tools will give you. However, there is a shorter route which also avoids walking next to main roads. The route via Google maps is probably best for android users, otherwise, the Bing maps version is very usable as you can switch on Ordnance Survey mapping. Dedicated GPS: kml format and gpx format.
Travelling by Car
