Detailed guidelines for presenters is given on this page. Please note that talk times and presenter requirements for the Set Visualization and Reasoning Workshop are not covered by this page; presenters should contact the Set VR Chairs if in doubt over the requirements for their talks.
All presenters are reminded that Diagrams is a multi-disciplinary conference. Talks and posters should therefore be accessible to a broad range of researchers with varied interests. With this in mind, presenters are encouraged to think carefully about how to convey their contribution in an accessible way.
Details are given below concerning the equipment in each room.
Speakers in the Main Technical Progam
Long talks in the main technical program are allocated 20 minutes, plus five minutes for questions. Short talks are allocated 10 minutes, plus five minutes for questions. Speakers must keep to the time allocated for their talks, which will be strictly enforced by the session chairs. Keeping to time is particularly important as delegates may wish to move between parallel sessions, depending on which talks they wish to see.
Speakers should arrive at their session at least ten minutes early to introduce themselves to the session chair and to check that their laptop works with the equipment supplied.
Speakers at the Graduate Symposium
Talks at the Graduate Symposium are allocated 20 minutes, plus five minutes for questions. Speakers should arrive at their session at least ten minutes early to introduce themselves to the session chair and to check that their laptop works with the equipment supplied.
Tutorial Presenters
Tutorials are allocated a single 1.5 hour session in the program. Chairs will not be provided for tutorial sessions. Therefore, presenters should introduce themselves and be sure to end their session at the appropriate time. Presenters should check their laptop works with the equipment supplied in advance of their session.
Poster Presenters
Posters should be a maximum of 1 metre wide and 2 metres tall in order to fit on the poster board. The organisers will provide a means to attach posters to the boards. Please note that we are unable to provide printing facilities. Therefore, poster presenters must bring a printed copy of their poster to the conference for display in the poster session. During the session, presenters are expected to attend their poster, so that they may explain and discuss their findings with delegates.
Please display your poster for the entire day of your poster session. So, posters should be put up during morning registration and removed after the last session on that day.
Equipment Available
Each room includes a data projector with HDMI and a VGA connector, along with an Edinburgh Napier computer with Powerpoint 2016 installed. Presenters who do not intend to use their own laptop should bring their slides on a memory stick. They should check their slides on the PC available in the room well before the session in which their talk is scheduled.
The banked lecture theatres (where all Main Technical Program talks will take place) have microphones.
Presenters that have any particular audio-visual needs, or other specific requirements for their talks, should email p.chapman ‘@’ napier.ac.uk before May 31, 2018 to see whether their needs can be met.
Wifi is available for delegates in the conference room. Details of how to connect will be provided in the delegate pack which is provided at the registration desk.
